What was the reason Doyle gave for their mother giving Sherlock Holmes and Mycroft Holmes their names?

I asked the wrong question before! I remember reading in The Complete Sherlock Holmes that she named them Sherlock and Mycroft for a reason. Why am I thinking they were named after minor Shakespearean characters?

Is it true that sherlock holmes used to use drugs?

I have heard that in original books holmes takes Cocaine and Morphine and sometimes other mixes that his chemical friends send him, is it true on not?
