Game Afoot

At an auction recently i bought a case full of books and in the box there was a book with a green hardcover and a tan-ish spine,it was the Complete Sherlock Holmes hardcover book by Double day and it appears to be sign by Sir A. Conan Doyle, it is in completely worn out, the spine is totally gone, the strings are coming loose, the front cover is stained and scratched, the pages are so fragile that im afraid to touch them. Is there people that will still buy this book like this? Again its an Original Complete Sherlock Holmes book that appears to be signed by the author himself.

I think there was a Sherlock Holmes story like this where one of the clues was that the dog didn’t bark, or something like that. I know that there is a book by Mark Haddon called “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” but was there a Sherlock Holmes story by a similar title? And if there is, what collection of stories can it be found in (i.e. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes; The Return of Sherlock Holmes)?
